Not only does she negotiate recording, concert and performance contracts for artists, she also crunches numbers to determine the best agreement to accept as she works with Roc Nation, Tidal and various artists. She’s negotiated the details for Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour and Rihanna’s $25 million sponsorship deal with the Korean company, Samsung.
Last year, she negotiated one of her biggest deals when Sprint invested $200 million in Jay-Z and other artist’s music endeavor, Tidal. This app has been successful in landing first releases of much anticipated music: “4:44” by Jay-z, “The Life of Pablo” by Kanye West, “ANTI” by Rihanna and “Lemonade” by Beyoncé. After the Jay-Z release which soared to number one, Sprint sponsored one million free downloads on Tidal.
Because of Ms. Perez’s negotiating skills, Jay-Z is free to make music unencumbered with messy business concerns. The Sprint deal with Tidal was followed by a $200 million partnership with Live Nation for Jay-Z’s touring future. As of November 30, 2017 Jay-Z’s 4:44 Tour has grossed 21 percent higher than his previous “Magna Carter” Tour in 2013.
