As a rising college student I often find college intimidating. I do not feel I am unable to handle the load but I often struggle because I have heard so many of my friends discuss how since they graduated from college they have walked into so much debt. Debt is scary to me. I don’t have any money in my bank account now so what would make one think that I would be willing to drag myself in the red? It’s a bit discouraging because I do want to attend college I just don’t want to risk taking out a loan just to do it.
Recently my favorite philanthropists Keith Mann introduced their first ever Keith and Keely Mann Scholarship fund. This scholarship was designed specifically for the students at Uncommon Schools of Brooklyn, New York. in order to be eligible you must write an essay about how receiving this scholarship will help you achieve your professional goals; whatever they may be. It is also a requirement that students be seniors in high school and they have to attend Uncommon Schools. This scholarship announcement increased my faith in being able to attend school again. It goes to show that there are still amazing people out there who care about my education.
If you are not familiar with Keith and Keely Mann let me share a little about them. Keith Mann is the CEO of Search Dynamics Partners. He specializes in helping those in the search executive firm industry.
