The Story Behind Eucatex’s Success

Eucatex was established in 1951. Since its inception, Eucatex has been producing and selling insulating material and ceiling lining from eucalyptus fiber. These are low-density products with acoustic insulation and thermal features which are widely used in the Brazilian civil construction industry. The company started its operations by manufacturing softboards and later expanded to panels and ceiling tiles.

Eucatex’s growth has been both rapid and successful. Today, the company is a top manufacturer of wall partitions, hardboards, paints and varnishes, laminate floors and MDP and MDF panels in Brazil. The company has a wide market and exports to more than 37 countries around the world. To make production efficient, Eucatex invests in innovative technology and owns four modern factories in Salto and Botucatu. This public company has more than 3,000 employees. Eucatex is a family owned company, and its current president is Flavio Maluf.

Mr. Maluf has been working with Eucatex since 1987 where he served in several units. Flavio Maluf started his career with Eucatex in the trade area and later moved to the industrial area until 1996. His uncle being the president at the time invited him to be part of the executives of Eucatex Group. After producing outstanding outcomes and making the company successful, Flavio Maluf was appointed the president of Eucatex Group through a family agreement in 1997. As the president, Maluf oversees the operations of the firm and concentrates on innovation and launching new products.

Flavio Maluf is a renowned business person and a mechanical engineer. He studied mechanical engineering in Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) located in São Paulo. Despite graduating as an engineering student, Flavio Maluf has proven to be a knowledgeable business person who has advanced from a small entrepreneur to a global competitor in the building and construction industry. Mr. Maluf has been accredited for the firm’s success especially during 2014 when the profits amounted to R$ 10.7 million.
